Prof Paul Fogarty

Paul Fogarty is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in Northern Ireland. He graduated from Queen’s University of Belfast in 1981 and undertook his postgraduate training throughout the United Kingdom and South Africa.  He completed a Doctorate Thesis in 1991 and was appointed Consultant in the Ulster Hospital, Belfast in 1993.

In 1998 he was elevated to FRCOG and in 2005 was elected to the RCOG Council as Fellows representative for Ireland.   He was elected Honorary Treasurer of The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in October 2010 and was subsequently elected to the position of Senior Vice President (Global Health) from 2013- 2016.

In his role as The RCOG Senior Vice President he developed and implemented an RCOG Global Health Strategy initiating many ground breaking international projects in Africa, The Middle East and South East Asia. 

From 2010 – 2017 he was invited by the RCOG President to Chair The RCOG World Congress Committee where he has worked closely with RCOG International Representatives and FIGO strengthening the RCOG Global Profile. 

In 2017 he received an honorary fellowship of The Indian college of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and is currently the Scientific Co Chair for the FIGO 2018 Congress to be held in Rio De Janeiro in October 2018.

From August 2017 he will be taking up the role of Head of Department in the Penang Medical College, Malaysia.
