Dr Lavitha Sivapatham

Dr Lavitha Sivapatham is a Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecologist based in Ampang Hospital, Selangor, Malaysia. She completed her fellowship in PAG at the Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne under the supervision of Professor Sonia Grover between 2015-2016.

She is also the first Malaysian to obtain the International Fellowship in Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology from the International Federation of Infant and Juvenile Gynecology in Florence in 2016.

Dr Lavitha graduated as a doctor from the Medical Faculty of the National University of Malaysia in 2000 and went on to became a specialist in 2008, obtaining her Masters in O&G from the same university. After 10 years serving the people of Sabah in Kota Kinabalu and Sandakan, she came back to serve in Peninsular Malaysia and was posted to Ampang Hospital in 2010. In 2011 she successfully obtained her membership with the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, London.

Realising that there was a gap in the gynaecological care of children and adolescent girls, she decided to pursue the field of PAG. It was with a lot of support and motivation from her colleagues and consultants that she managed to complete her fellowship.

She is now in the midst of setting up the PAG service in Ampang Hospital whilst trying to get new blood interested and involved in PAG. Her interests include all facets of PAG and she is especially interested in improving the gynaecological health of young women. Another thing that keeps Dr Lavitha going is seeing her trainees successfully complete their specialist exams.
