Professor Dr Woo Yin Ling is a Consultant Gynaecological Oncologist at University Malaya Medical Centre, and a professor at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Malaya.
She received her basic medical degree from Trinity College, Dublin, and her PhD from the University of Cambridge, England. She was awarded the Gold Medal from the Royal College of Obstetrician and Gynaecologist (RCOG) in 2000 and was the recipient of the prestigious Cancer Research UK Gordon Hamilton Fairley Fellowship to undertake her PhD.
In 2006, she won the Macmillan Gynaecological Oncology Fellowship for her gynaecological oncology sub-speciality training. Professor Woo’s areas of expertise is in the area of tumour immunology, specifically the immunobiology of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and hereditary gynaecological cancers.
In 2016, Prof Woo also won the ‘Malaysian Women’s Weekly Great Women of Our Time’ award, an award that shines the spotlight on ordinary Malaysian doing extraordinary things.
