Dr. Alana Flexman is an anesthesiologist at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, Canada and a Clinical Associate Professor in the UBC Department of Anesthesiology, Pharmacology and Therapeutics. She is also an affiliated scientist with the Centre for Advancing Health Outcomes at St. Paul’s Hospital. Dr. Flexman’s research is focused on the brain and anesthesia, including perioperative stroke and brain health. After finishing anesthesia residency at UBC, she completed a fellowship in neuroanesthesia at the University of California San Francisco. More recently, she completed a Master’s of Business Administration in Health Care at the University of Toronto (Rotman School of Business). Dr. Flexman is a Past-President of the Society for Neuroscience in Anesthesiology and Critical Care (SNACC), and an Associate Editor at the Journal for Neurosurgical Anesthesiology.

Jason Chui graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and completed his residency training with the Colleges of Hong Kong, Australia, and New Zealand. He further specialized with a Neuroanesthesia fellowship at Toronto Western Hospital and a Cardiac Anesthesia and Critical Care fellowship at Toronto General Hospital, University of Toronto. He currently serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesia & Perioperative Medicine at the University of Western Ontario.
As an active Clinician Investigator, Dr. Chui has been the Principal Investigator on several successful funding applications and has authored numerous publications in high-impact medical journals. His current research focuses on the clinical application of near-infrared spectroscopy cerebral oximetry to directly measure cerebral metabolism in surgical setting, as well as large-scale clinical trials in neuroanesthesia and neuroscience.
Dr. Chui is the current Scientific Chair of the Canadian Anesthesiologists’ Society (CAS) Annual Meeting and the past Chair of the Neuroanesthesia Section in CAS. He also serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Neurosurgical Anesthesiology and contributes as a reviewer for multiple major medical journals and grant agencies.

Dr. Girija Prasad Rath is a professor of Neuroanaesthesiology and Critical Care at Neurosciences Centre of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, India. He has received three years of exclusive training in Neuroanesthesia at AIIMS and is among the first batch of anesthesiologists in India to hold a super-specialty degree, i.e., Doctorate of Medicine (DM) in Neuroanesthesiology.
Dr. Rath has been involved in educational, clinical, and research activities of neuroanesthesia and neurocritical care with a special interest for pediatric neuroanesthesia. To his credit, he got more than 250 scientific articles published in peer-reviewed journals and edited two books titled Handbook of Trigeminal Neuralgia and Fundamentals of Pediatric Neuroanesthesia. He is a member of the editorial board of five peer-reviewed journals. And since its inception, he is the executive editor of the Journal of Neuroanaesthesiology and Critical Care (JNACC).
Dr. Rath is the Secretary of the Indian Society of Neuroanaesthesiology and Critical Care (ISNACC), an EXCO Member (India) of Asian Society for Neuroanesthesiology and Critical Care (ASNACC), and the Secretary-Treasurer for the Society for Neuroscience in Anesthesiology and Critical Care (SNACC) and International Council for Perioperative Neuroscience Training (ICPNT). He is also the Chair for SNACC Global Outreach Sub-Committee. Dr. Arfah Hanim Mohamad completed her training in Master of Anaesthesiology at Universiti Malaya in 2017 and currently an Anaesthesiologist in Hospital Kuala Lumpur. Paul García, MD, PhD, is an anesthesiologist and researcher in New York City. He studied electrical engineering and computational neuroscience at the University of Florida, before matriculating at Emory’s MD/PhD program. Through the NIH-supported Medical-Scientist Training Program (MSTP), he obtained his PhD in Bioengineering at Georgia Institute of Technology. At Emory and its affiliated hospitals, he completed his medical degree, anesthesiology residency training, and started his faculty career. In 2018, he joined the faculty of the Department of Anesthesiology at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. His laboratory focuses on models of neuronal degeneration caused by age, anesthesia, or other pharmacologic exposure. Frequently this involves neurophysiologic recording from rodent brain tissue as well as behavioral testing in pre-clinical models. Dr. García has translated this research into the human/clinical realm. His clinical research projects involve investigating intraoperative EEG signatures and their association with adverse postoperative outcomes, such as pain and delirium in the recovery room.
